KeystoneLink Sourcing Load Criteria and Alternative Acceptance
Record the loads before an alternative is accepted. KeystoneLink Sourcing does not claim authorized dealer status and does not publish design values for your site. The numbers below are the fields a brief should carry. Replace every example with the project figure.

Standard published bay or a frame drawn for this site
A published bay spacing, 20 ft or 25 ft, lets two suppliers start from the same grid when the use fits. A project-specific rigid frame is appropriate when clear span, crane hook height or a high ground snow load breaks that grid. The standardized path can shorten the question list. The custom path can fit an odd door. Neither path is approved because it was drawn. International Building Code adoption, through the International Code Council model text as amended locally, still has to be named by the authority having jurisdiction. AISC 360, American Institute of Steel Construction, is the steel specification many calculations cite. Citing it on a cover letter does not seal the job.
What acceptance still cannot skip
Illustrative procurement scenario (not a completed project): a buyer comparing halls after a llentab search has a 90 ft clear span, 20 ft eave height, and a county worksheet showing 140 mph wind and exposure C. Process: the brief asks each factory to state the enclosure classification it used and to attach anchor reactions for the foundation interface. Comparison step: a reply that uses exposure B without comment is marked as a deviation, not as a lower price. The structural engineer engaged by the buyer decides whether exposure C stands. This center stores the question. It does not issue the decision.
Limits of the sheet: dead load examples are placeholders; wind speed without exposure is incomplete; a seismic design category copied from a neighboring project is not evidence; thermal transmittance of a panel does not answer the fire-resistance rating; Request the applicable welding code and procedure for the proposed work, such as AWS D1.1 where the project calls for it; a brochure weld photo is not that procedure.
Document sets to request from the quoting factory
These are request lists. KeystoneLink Sourcing does not host the files and does not assign file sizes. The factory that prices the system provides the PDF, and the buyer checks that the title block matches the quoted span.
Calculation set
- Load summary with units: psf, mph, and the seismic category if used
- Frame elevation for the clear span and eave height quoted
- Anchor reaction table for the foundation interface
Shop and coating records
- Steel grade for hot-rolled primary members
- Cold-formed purlin and girt designation
- Weld procedure reference when AWS D1.1 work is proposed
- Coating mass for the environment the buyer described
Envelope data
- Panel thickness and stated R-value or U-value
- Fire-resistance assembly reference, if the jurisdiction asks
- Trim and closure assumptions at the eave and base
Load questions
Units
Why keep psf and mph on the same brief?
A snow load in psf and a wind speed in mph answer different checks. Dropping the unit lets a supplier assume a different basis from the one the buyer wrote.
Is a collateral load part of dead load?
Treat it as its own line: lights, sprinklers, solar or ceiling. Folding it into an unlabeled dead load hides a difference between two quotes.
Acceptance
Can this page certify the hall?
No. The page lists what to ask. Sealing calculations and permits stay with the professionals and the authority having jurisdiction.
What if the supplier cites IAS AC472?
Ask which plant and which inspection program the citation covers. An accreditation mark on a public page is not automatically the file for your building set.
Send the load lines with the span
Quantity, destination and the scope name — shell, delivered, installed or turnkey — still sit beside the loads. A complete load list with a missing destination is not yet a quotation request.
